My piano teacher of 12 years

I took piano from Ms. Carter for some 12 years, starting when I was 5 years old. She didn't want to take me at such a young age, but when I ripped the scales out with such teeny little fingers, she couldn't resist taking me in as a student :) . Seriously, that's her story, and she repeated it again for us when we visited her on May 22nd.

Ms. Carter's granddaughter, Lili, holding Isabella.

Yes, the granddaughter's name is spelled differently from mine. Hers is the French spelling of the name.

I hate that I look as if I have a double chin in this picture. Oh well.

Daddy's retirement party

My mom, my sister, and I planned a retirement party for Daddy, starting around January or a bit before that. Some thirty odd people came to Hong Kong House for the shebang. Tenny, Tim, Troy, and I went to the restaurant earlier on May 20th to set up for the party.

Mrs. Yu made this beautiful cake for Daddy.

The cousins that are 9 days apart meet at last

On May 19th, Troy, Isabella, and I returned to Tennessee from Ohio to meet up with Tenny, Tim, and Juliet, who were arriving from California. Tenny, my only sibling, is two years and eleven days older than me. Isabella is nine days older than Tenny's Juliet. They met for the first time that Saturday, a very exciting day!

Isabella & Juliet.
Isabella seems sufficiently entertained, but I don't think Juliet knows what to think of her cousin.

Isabella's playing with Tenny's foot. A-ma's in the background.

New toys, swinging, and lots of fun

More pictures from May 18th.

The animals & carts are from her Great Aunt Judy. The stacking stars are from Grandma Karen.

Troy is playing with Brice's magnets. Looks like he's having more fun wit the toys than Brice was.

Isabella's enjoying her ride in the swing.

Great Grandma & Great Grandpa

Isabella has 3 surviving great grandparents: two great grandmothers and one great grandfather. We paid a visit to the great grandparents on Troy's side of the family - Troy's mom's parents.

Grandma's workplace

Isabella's grandma & grandma's co-workers have been so sweet to constantly inquire after Isabella and check my blogs, we had to drop by the workplace. And we did, on May 18th.

Meeting with Troy's old cheerleading partner and her kids

On May 17th, Troy, Isabella, and I drove to Loveland, Ohio, about an hour and a half from Chillicothe, to meet with Troy's college cheerleading partner - Amy Simmons McClellan. I met her once before we were engaged. She and her husband are expecting their third child, a son.

Amy, Troy, and Isabella.
Hey, I found another scrapbooking fan! Amy loves to scrapbook, too. Don't know how she finds the time to do the stuff. Haven't had a chance to scrapbook since . . . before my pregnancy!

Hannah, the younger of the two kids, soon to be the middle child.

Hannah just loved Isabella so much!

A more intimate extended family gathering

These pictures are from a small family reunion on May 15th, at Troy's parents' home, in Chillicothe, Ohio. Who was there? Troy's mom and dad (Karen & John), us (Troy, Isabella, &me), Troy's brother and his brother's wife (Aaron & Jenny), Troy's sister and his sister's son (Becky & Brice), Troy's maternal cousin and his cousin's wife (Adam & Beth) and their son (Logan), and Troy's maternal uncle (Bob).

Troy's mom wanted to serve butter cake, using Manda's recipe. I was in charge of making it. Well, I made the first layer, and then, I was doing something with Isabella. Troy's mom and Troy made the rest of the butter cake. Troy said it was scrumptuous.

Isabella's strapped to me in the Baby Bjorn. Taking this was a bear. Oftentimes I miss the target.

Another shot of my precious princess, sporting an outfit from Auntie Becky.

Isabella's Grandma (Karen) and Grandpa (John).

Logan - isn't he a sweetheart?
I think he's 18 months old.
